The last day to end an STSM or conference attendance is 30th September 2020.
Working Group Workshop in Vilnius, Lithuania (17.02.2020 - 18.02.2020)
In February, we organized a working group and MC meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania. The local organizer was Algirdas Lančinskas. We met at Vilnius University.
Grant prolongation
The action is prolonged until June 8th, 2020!
New Grant Holder
The new grant holder is the University of Coimbra. The grant agreement was signed by the COST Association on July 19th, 2019.
Meeting and Industry Workshop in Coimbra, Portugal (05.09.2018 - 07.09.2018)
In September, we organize a meeting in Coimbra, Portugal. The local organizer is Carlos Fonseca. We have co-located the MC meeting, a WG meeting and our second industry workshop. The meeting time is 10-18 on Wednesday and 9-18 on Thursday and Friday. We meet at the Polo I (Collegio de Jesus) of the Campus of the University of Coimbra.
ITC conference grants EvoSTAR 2018
João Pedro Gonçalves Teixeira Macedo obtained ITC conference grant from COST Action CA15140 to participate at EvoSTAR 2018 conference. Congratulations!
Tiago Martins obtained ITC conference grant from COST Action CA15140 to participate at International Conference on Computational Intelligence in Music, Sound, Art and Design (EvoMusArt) 2018. He won the Best Paper Award and Best Poster Award. He was also selected as one of the “EvoStar Outstanding Students 2018”. Congratulations!
Filipe Assunção obtained ITC conference grant from COST Action CA15140 to participate at European Conference on Genetic Programming (EuroGP) 2018 conference. He was also selected as one of the “EvoStar Outstanding Students 2018”. Congratulations!
Extended Core Group and WG Meeting (07.03.2018 - 09.03.2018)
In March, we organize a Core Group Meeting and a Working Group Meeting at Hasso-Plattner-Institut, Potsdam, Germany. The local organizer is Tobias Friedrich (WG 1 Leader).
Industry Workshop in Copenhagen (16.01.2017)
On the 16th January 29 attendees from 18 different countries came together in Copenhagen to directly tackle the topic of our COST Action: how to bridge the gap between theory and applications of nature-inspired optimisation heuristics. The focus was on finding out what kind of questions practioners would like to see answered by theory. This is the focus of Working Group 2 and therefore the majority of the day was chaired by the its Working Group leader Christine Zarges. The below schedule gives an impression of the topics that we discussed and how the day was organised.

Workshop and 2nd Management Committee Meeting (17./18.10.2016)
On the 17th October we had a workshop in Cluj-Napoca dedicated to the work in our four Working Groups. The 36 attendees from 19 different countries were updated on what was going on in the different working groups in a number of presentations. In a breakout session and subsequent discussions we decided about our goals and planned the next activities.
Our 2nd MC meeting followed on the next day, the 18th of October, in the same premises of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
1st Management Committee Meeting (09.03.2016)
The start of our COST Action was formally marked by the 1st Management Committee Meeting on the 9th of March 2016 in Brussels, Belgium. Twenty seven MC Members came together to decide about Chair, Vice Chair, Grant Holder, Working Group Leaders and Vice-Leaders, STSM Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator, Website Coordinator; participation in Working groups; the budget for the first Grant Period; further meetings and workshops in the first Grant Period.
